On Friday 16 May, an unforgettable day unfolded at Bridlington Skydive Club as 15 courageous volunteers took a leap of faith from 10,000 feet to complete a tandem parachute jump in support of the Yorkshire, North and East Ridings Festival 2029

Participants began arriving around midday, with excitement and anticipation building throughout the afternoon. Although weather and scheduling delays meant preparations did not begin until around 1.30pm, spirits remained high as jumpers were gradually called forward to suit up in their flying gear and harnesses.

As the time approached for each tandem pair to board the aircraft, emotions ranged from eager anticipation to understandable nerves. However, any uncertainty quickly disappeared once the first jumpers landed safely, sharing enthusiastic stories of the experience and encouraging those still waiting for their turn. Their positivity helped build confidence among the remaining participants and added to the camaraderie of the day.

By approximately 7.15pm, all 15 participants had successfully completed their jumps, each returning to the ground safely and with smiles on their faces. The event created lasting memories for everyone involved, with many describing the experience as truly unforgettable.

Among the comments shared by participants were:

“What an amazing experience,” commented David Shute and Mark Hartley.

“An experience I will never forget,” said Craig Chadwick.

“Absolutely brilliant day. No words can describe the feeling,” added Mal Ivison.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all 15 jumpers for their enthusiasm and commitment, as well as to the friends and families who attended to support them throughout the day. The continued generosity of supporters enables the Freemasons’ Charity to provide vital assistance to charities and families across the Province who are in need.
